Book center being reborn, with broader remit

More than 10 years after the plug was pulled on the National Book Center of Greece (EKEVI) in 2013, a new agency representing the Greek book market and literary world is in the offing, with greater funding capabilities, including from private sources, and a broader remit, taking over responsibilities that have, until now, belonged to the Culture Ministry's Literature Directorate.

The new interactive production of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, titled “Hagia Sophia: 1,500 Years of History” kicks off on Saturday, December 19. The digital representation of Hagia Sophia in Istanbul was recreated specifically for the Tholos, the foundation’s high tech virtual reality theater.

16th International Festival of Archaeological Film

BELGRADE - The 16th edition of the International Festival of Archaeological Film will feature the screening of 22 films from 10 countries at the Gallery of Frescoes in Belgrade on March 19-25.

This year, the guest of honor is Iran, which will present its rich archaeological heritage with a film about the splendor of Persepolis, the organizers said in a release.
