Bosnian Croat Ex-Fighter Acquitted of Abusing Prisoners of War
The Cantonal Court in Zenica delivered a first-instance verdict on Friday acquitting Ivica Jukic, alias Juka, of mistreating Bosniak prisoners of war at the Silos Nova Trgovina detention facility in Zepce in August 1993.
Presiding judge Enes Malicbegovic said that some of the testimonies from witnesses who had allegedly been mistreated were either contradictory or too similar.
Izetbegovic: Bosnian Croat Entity 'Impossible Without War'
Bakir Izetbegovic, the Bosniak member of the Bosnian tripartite presidency, warned on Sunday that Croats "cannot get a third entity in Bosnia without a war".
His reaction came after a Bosnian Croat declaration last week which lent support to Croats' campaign to have an entity of their own in Bosnia, in addition to the Serb-dominated Republika Srpska and the Bosniak-Croat Federation.
Croatian President Seeks Erdogan's Help Over Bosnia
Grabar Kitarovic will use her meeting with her Turkish counterpart Erdogan on Tuesday to try to enlist his influence in Bosnia and Herzegovina to support electoral reforms advocated by the Bosnian Croats.
