Turkey, Albania upgrade ties to strategic partnership

Turkey and Albania on Jan. 6 signed an agreement to upgrade bilateral ties to a strategic partnership level.

Speaking at a joint news conference with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama following meetings in the capital Ankara, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highlighted the historic ties between the two countries.

'Turkey, Indonesia should unite against Islamophobia'

Turkey and Indonesia should work together to support the Muslim community against Islamophobia and discrimination, according to Turkey's foreign minister on Dec. 22. 

"We should support the [Muslim] community by working together with Indonesia and fight against these," Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu told a press conference alongside Indonesian counterpart Retno Parsudi in Jakarta.

Karabakh as much our issue as Azerbaijan's: Turkish president

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Feb. 25 the Upper Karabakh is as much Turkey's issue as it is Azerbaijan's.

"It is our greatest desire to resolve the problem of Upper Karabakh on the basis of Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity," Erdoğan said at a joint news conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev.

Turkey, Azerbaijan to sign preferential trade agreement

Turkey and Azerbaijan will sign a preferential trade agreement in a strategic cooperation summit in the capital Baku on Feb. 24. 

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev will co-chair a High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting. Erdoğan is expected to visit Azerbaijan on Feb. 25.
