Two bids arrive for airline subsidies
The flag carriers of Luxembourg and Montenegro have applied for subsidies offered by the Slovenian government to improve the country's air connectivity in response to the first call.
Luxair and To Montenegro submitted their bids by the deadline that expired last week, the Infrastructure Ministry said on 8 May.

Athens metro heading out to western suburbs
The Infrastructure Ministry has announced the tender for a 4-kilometer extension of Line 2 of the Athens metro from Anthoupoli westward to Ilion with three new stations: Palatiani (at the junction of Thivon Avenue and Kappadokia Street), Ilion (Thivon & Eleon) and Agios Nikolaos (Agios Nikolaos & Paramythia).

Road fatalities down significantly last year
A total of 86 people were killed in traffic accidents on Slovenian roads in 2022, which is 28 fewer than in 2021. Still, the number of accidents topped 18,000, which is about 1,100 more than the year before, show data from the General Police Administration.

Domestic electricity covers only 75% of country’s needs
Ljubljana – Electricity generated in Slovenia met 74.4% of the country’s needs in the first half of the year, down 12 percentage points from the same period in last year for what had been the lowest consumption-generation rate in the last 10 years, the latest data from the Infrastructure Ministry show.
Domestic flight price cap increased
The Transport and Infrastructure Ministry has announced that it has decided to increase the price cap for domestic flights.
Accordingly, the maximum fare for domestic flights soared from a previous 990 Turkish Liras to 1,150 liras.
In July, more than 8 million passengers traveled on domestic routes.

Govt to build “giant solar power plants” for households
Ljubljana – The government is gearing up to increase the capacity of production of electricity from solar energy, with Prime Minister Robert Golob announcing a plan to set up “giant solar power plants” available to households in the next three years.
Train services between Istanbul, Sofia starting soon
The train services between Istanbul and Bulgaria's capital of Sofia, which were halted on March 11, 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, will begin on April 25, the Turkish Transportation and Infrastructure Ministry has announced.
"Following talks between the two countries' railways administrations, the decision has been taken," the ministry said in a statement on April 20.

Major rail upgrade project completed in eastern Slovenia
Celje – The upgrade of a 26-kilometre railway section between Zidani Most and Celje in eastern Slovenia was declared completed at a ceremony on Wednesday which heard the project cost EUR 230 million, which is about EUR 50 million less that the initial cost estimate.
