4.6 magnitude quake shakes Athens

A 4.6 magnitude earthquake has hit east of Evia, Greece's second largest island, shaking the capital Athens, southwest of the tremor's epicenter.

The tremor was felt at 4.15 p.m. local time.

The Athens-based Institute of Geodynamics announced on its website that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.

4.1 magnitude earthquake hits Atalanti in eastern Fthiotida region

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck the area of Atalanti in the eastern Fthiotida region on Saturday, according to the Athens-based Institute of Geodynamics. The quake occurred at 1.04 p.m. with the epicenter located 12 kilometers northwest of Atalanti at a depth of 17.3 kilometers.

No damage or casualties were reported.

Strong earthquake hits Crete; no damage reported

A 5.1-magnitude tremor has hit the south coast of the island of Crete near the town of Moires, the Athens-based Institute of Geodynamics has announced.

The earthquake occurred at 9.59 p.m. local time (1859 GMT) Thursday at a depth of 8.9 kilometers, the Institute announced.

A day earlier, a 4.2-maginitude tremor had occurred in the same area.

Quake rattles central Greece town

A 3.6-magnitude tremor occurred near Tyrnavos town, central Greece, Thursday, the Athens-based Institute of Geodynamics reported.

The quake's epicenter was 19.2 kilometers northwest of Larisa. The tremor occurred at 7.23 a.m. local time at a depth 2 kilometers, the institute reported.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injury.

 

Moderate quake recorded off Iraklio

The Athens-based Institute of Geodynamics reported that a 4.1-magnitude earthquake occurred in sea area 18 kilometres northeast of the Cretan town of Iraklio on Thursday morning.

Though the tremor was of small duration it was widely felt in the area due to the low focal depth and the noise produced, according to local witnesses.
No injuries have been reported.

Aftershock activity continues on Kos

An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit the Aegean island of Kos at 10.42 a.m. on Tuesday, the Athens-based Institute of Geodynamics reported.

According to the institute, the tremor was part of aftershock activity following the 6.6 magnitude earthquake that shook the island last month.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
