Vukasin Obradovic, the president of the Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia, NUNS, said on Monday that he wanted to find out how the interior minister knew what was said during a private conversation he had with a police officer who has also filed a criminal charge against Stefanovic.

Deputy Public Prosecutor in Leskovac D.Dj. (56) has been arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal act of domestic violence.

The Interior Ministry (MUP) in Leskovac said the suspect has been charged with psychologically abusing his wife during the past month by "calling her insulting names and presenting serious threats during telephone conversations."

Saudi Arabia executed 47 people on Jan. 2 for terrorism, mostly suspected al-Qaeda members but also a prominent Shiite Muslim cleric, Nimr al-Nimr, Interior Ministry said in a statement broadcast on state television. 

Interior Ministry announced that the government plans to hire a great number of employees in 2016 and the most hirings will be in the sectors of education, health and local administration.

However, the exact number of the employees to be hired is still unknown since the government has not reached yet an agreement with the institutions.

Germany will start holding personal hearings for asylum seekers from Syria as of Jan. 1, an Interior Ministry spokeswoman told Reuters on Dec. 31, reversing a policy of granting almost automatic refugee status for Syrians.

Serbian Police Director Milorad Veljovic has been relieved of his duties, Tanjug was told at the Interior Ministry (MUP) on Thursday.

The government later during the day confirmed this, saying Veljovic now has a new job - as the prime minister's adviser for regional and national security.
