Slovenia heads FIBA Europe combined ranking
Ljubljana – Slovenia has climbed to the top of the FIBA Europe combined ranking for 2021, which takes into account showings by both the men’s and boys’ basketball squads, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced. This summer has been the best on record for Slovenia’s basketball with Slovenian players of both genders pushing frontiers.

Jure Zdovc second Slovenian in FIBA Hall of Fame
Nyon – Slovenian basketball coach and former player Jure Zdovc will be inducted in the FIBA Hall of Fame as part of the 2020 class. He is only the second Slovenian to make it to museum honouring people who have greatly contributed to international competitive basketball after Ivo Daneu.

Slovenia qualify for 2022 EuroBasket in Ljubljana “bubble”
Ljubljana – The Slovenian men’s basketball team has qualified for the 2022 Eurobasket with wins against Ukraine and Austria in a mini “bubble” tournament held in Ljubljana’s Stožice Arena as part of the qualifying Group F. Slovenia will thus be defending their gold medal from the previous European championship in 2017.

Elvira Dushku, the secretary-general of Kosovo Basketball Federation, FBK, said on Wednesday that the participation of its youth basketball players in a European championship in Sarajevo was under threat due to visa issues.

Residents and commuters in central Athens were treated to a basketball display at the weekend outside the Syntagma metro station which was put on by children and young people taking part in the Athens 3x3 Basketball Tournament. The tournament was organized by the City of Athens Youth and Sports Organization (ONA) and endorsed by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

John Savage receives Golden Seal of Yugoslav Cinematheque
BELGRADE - The greatest recognition of the Yugoslav Cinematheque, the Golden Seal awarded for exceptional contribution to cinematography, has been delivered to U.S. actor John Savage.
The recognition was delivered to the famous U.S. actor by Yugoslav Cinematheque Director Radoslav Zelenovic on Saturday.
Kosovo Swimming Federation admitted into FINA
LAUSANNE - The International Swimming Federation (FINA) granted full membership to the Kosovo Swimming Federation, FINA posted on its website.
According to the short release, the decision to admit the Kosovo Swimming Federation as the 208th FINA member was adopted at the FINA Bureau.

KSS opposes admitting Kosovo to FIBA
BELGRADE - The Basketball Federation of Serbia (KSS) strongly opposes the admission of Kosovo to the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), KSS President Dragan Djilas and Secretary General Andrej Kleut said during a meeting they had with key people at FIBA in Munich on Wednesday.
