45 pct of motorbike couriers work without social security: ILO

Unemployment rate at 13.4 pct in February

Unemployment in Turkey was 13.4 percent in February, up 0.7 percentage points from the previous month, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) released on April 12.

The number of unemployed people aged 15 and over increased by 250,000 to 4.2 million in February compared to January, TÜİK said in a statement.

Unemployment rate at 12.2% in January

Unemployment in Turkey was 12.2% in January, down 0.4 percentage points from the previous month, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) data released on March 10. 

"The number of jobless aged 15 and over decreased by 1,000 to 3.9 million in January 2021 in the country compared to December 2020," it said in a statement.

The World Day for Safety and Health at Work is celebrated anually on 28 April. For the first time, the International Labor Organization (ILO) celebrates this day in 2001.

According to ILO figures, each year, 2.2 million workers worldwide die because of work-related accidents and occupational diseases. Losses account for 4% of global gross domestic product.

CITUB Wants Bulgaria to Ratify the Convention against Workplace Violence
