The Romanian athlete Petronela Budai conquered a gold and a silver medal within the 71 kg category, on Monday evening, at the European Youth and Under-15 Weightlifting Championships in Ciechanow (Poland), according to the Facebook page of the Romanian Weightlifting Federation (FRH).

Romania's Lavinia Vinteleriu won on Friday three silver medals in women's 49 kg weightlifting at the European Youth and U15 Weightlifting Championships in Ciechanów (Poland), the Romanian Weightlifting Federation announced on Facebook.

The sanctioning body of the International Weightlifting Federation, IWF, on Thursday issued a one-year suspension against the Romanian Weightlifting Federation, FRH, after the four Romanian representatives in the London 2012 Olympics tested positive for doping.

Uçan contested in the women's 81-kilogram category lifting 99 kg in snatch, according to Turkey's Weightlifting Federation on May 29.

She also claimed bronze in clean and jerk lifting 123 kg.

Secretary General of the Romanian Weightlifting Federation (FRH) Alexandru Padure was elected to the Executive Board of the European Weightlifting Federation (EWF) at a poll that took place on Thursday at EWF's congress convention in Moscow. Padure told AGERPRES on Friday that Romania will have another representative on EWF as Georgeta Ion was re-elected to the EWF Technical Committee.

Romanian weightlifters won nine medals on Sunday on the first day of the European European Youth Weightlifting Championships, the Under-15 and Under-17 categories in Milan, Italy, seven golds and two bronzes.

Three gold medals each went to weightlifters Dorina Tofan and Alice Halmac in the U-15 girls' events.

Bulgaria's weightlifting federation said on Friday that it had paid a USD 250,000 (EUR 214,000) fine to lift a doping ban on its team competing internationally. The ban was imposed by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) in mid-2015 after Bulgaria's entire team of eleven athletes tested positive for stanozolol, an anabolic steroid that stimulates increased muscle tissue.
