Turkey to continue operations in Iraq if Baghdad overlooks PKK presence: Ministry

Turkey will continue its cross-border operations against the illegal PKK group in northern Iraq if Baghdad continues to overlook the group's presence in the region, the Foreign Ministry said on Aug. 13, urging Iraqi authorities to cooperate with Ankara.

Iraqi president says Turkish deployment inside Iraq violates international law

Iraqi President Fouad Massoum on Dec. 5 called the deployment of several hundred Turkish troops inside Iraq near the northern city of Mosul "a violation of international norms and law." 

A Turkish security source said on Dec. 4 the forces would provide training for Iraqi troops near Mosul, which is controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
