Jazz Day celebrations in Istanbul

April 30, which was officially designated as International Jazz Day in 20111 by UNESCO in order to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe, will once again be celebrated in Turkey.

As part of the 2016 International Jazz Day celebrations, the Ay?egül and Nezih Ye?ilgil Quartet will perform at the Istanbul Zorlu Center PSM.

'Dust Cloth' chosen Best Film at Istanbul Film Festival

The 35th Istanbul Film Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), presented this year's awards at a ceremony at the Haliç Congress Center on April 15.

The Golden Tulip for the Best Film in the National Competition of the festival went to "Toz Bezi" (Dust Cloth), directed by Ahu Öztürk, who received the award from the jury head, Müjde Ar.

15th Istanbul Biennial curators announced

The 15th Istanbul Biennial set for autumn 2017, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), will be curated by the artist duo Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset. 

According to a written statement by IKSV, Elmgreen & Dragset said they are looking forward to collaborating across boundaries at a time of rising nationalism.

Istanbul Film Festival opens

The 35th Istanbul Film Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), kicked off last night with the opening film "Midnight Special." 

A film by Jeff Nichols of "Take Shelter" fame and starring Michael Shannon, Joel Edgerton, Kirsten Dunst, Jaeden Lieberher and Adam Driverthe, "Midnight Special" is literally a homage to the fantasy films of the 1980s. 

Cultural events canceled after terror attack
