Journalist Hüsnü Mahalli referred to court for arrest

Journalist Hüsnü Mahalli, who was detained for allegedly insulting state officials on Twitter, was referred to court on Dec. 15 after he was taken to hospital for his illness.

Earlier in the day, Mahalli had been transferred to the Cerrahpaşa Medicine Faculty Hospital after falling sick during proceedings at the police headquarters.

Journalist Hüsnü Mahalli, who was detained on Dec. 13 for allegedly insulting state officials on Twitter, was hospitalized on Dec. 14, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Mahalli was transferred to Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine Hospital when he felt unwell in the evening hours during his proceedings at the police headquarters.

Journalist Hüsnü Mahalli was detained on Dec. 13 for allegedly insulting state officials on Twitter, as a part of an investigation carried out by the Istanbul chief public prosecutor's office, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Police detained Mahalli at his home in the evening hours and took him to police headquarters. Digital equipment at his home was also seized for investigation.
