Prosecutor launches probe into Başakşehir footballers, staff for attacking journalists

The Public Prosecutor's Office in the Black Sea province of Rize has launched an investigation into five suspects from the Medipol Başakşehir football team in connection with an assault on two journalists following a game with Çaykur Rizespor a day earlier, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Belgrade Mayor Apologises for Incident with Journalists

The Mayor of Belgrade has apologised to journalists who had their equipment confiscated when they were trying to question him.

A statement released by the Journalists' Association of Serbia reported that the Mayor said the incident happened after a group of unknown people approached him during talks with a contractor at the Belgrade Waterfront site, saying they were journalists.

Serbia Media Expect Tough Time After Privatisation

Journalists' association predicts that changes in legislation now before parliament, privatising the sector by 2015, will result in a sharp drop in the number of outlets remaining in business.

"This time next year half of the journalists will be jobless," Jelka Jovanovic, of the Independent Association of Serbian Journalists, NUNS, told BIRN.
