Authorities are working on a new regulation that would introduce a cap on rent increases, Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ has said.

"The limit in rent hikes will be based on the inflation rate, and this will be a temporary measure," Bozdağ told reporters in the Central Anatolian province of Yozgat.

Within the framework of a regulation that Turkey's Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Ministry, the Justice Ministry and the Treasury and Finance Ministry are working on to solve soaring rent prices, the production of social housing will be increased, housing costs will be reduced and new steps will be taken to enable citizens to purchase houses affordably.

The bicameral Romanian parliament on Tuesday elected two new judges at the Constitutional Court - Bogdan Licu and Laura-Iuliana Scantei, both of whom are believed to be close to President Klaus Iohannis.
