United States does not support "Thaci's army" - report

The transformation of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) into an army - an initiative launched by Hashim Thaci - "does not have international support."

Albanian language daily Koha Ditore is reporting this a day after Thaci, who serves as Kosovo president, and Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli presented a draft bill on transforming the KSF into "the Armed Forces of Kosovo."

Kosovo May Form Army, Bypassing Serb Veto

Kosovo's President is planning to establish a regular army for the country by amending the current Law on the Kosovo Security Force, KSF, extending its powers and responsibilities.

A change to the competencies of the existing KSF would circumvent the need to win Kosovo Serb MPs' approval for the formation of a regular army.

Veseli: Pristina "blessed with alliance" with Washington

Kosovo Assembly President Kadri Veseli has published a photo on Twitter of himself in the company of US President Donald Trump.

Veseli accompanied it with the following message:

"I expressed my deep gratitude to President Trump over US support for Kosovo. We're blessed with the alliance between our two peoples."

Palmer: US stance on Kosovo and Balkans unchanged

The US stance on Kosovo and the Balkans remain the same, says Matthew Palmer, director for South and Central European Affairs at the US Department of State.

Palmer - who was in Belgrade last week - said this in Pristina on Monday after his meeting with Kadri Veseli, president of the Kosovo Assembly, Veseli's cabinet announced in a statement.

"No ZSO until Serbian parallel structures are dismantled"

The Community of Serbian Municipalities (ZSO) in Kosovo will not be established until "Serbian parallel structures" have been "completely dismantled."

That is what Edita Tahiri, a minister in the Kosovo government in charge of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, told the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Kosovo Assembly - according to Pristina-based Albanian language daily Zeri.

Serbs again freeze participation in Kosovo Assembly, gov't

The Serb List (Srpska Lista) has announced that its representatives have frozen their participation in the work of the Kosovo Assembly and in the government.

A statement signed by the head of the ticket's parliamentary group, and president of the Serb List, Slavko Simic, also said that Mirjana Jevtic will leave the Kosovo Ministry of Local Self-Government.
