Kosovo's Haradinaj Held in France on Serbian Warrant

Former PM and AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj was detained on Wednesday by police in eastern France on a flight from Pristina on the basis of a Serbian arrest warrant that alleges he committed war crimes while he was a guerrilla commander with the Kosovo Liberation Army, KLA, during the war in Kosovo.

His family confirmed the arrest on Wednesday to Kosovo's public broadcaster RTK.

19 arrested in Kosovo on suspicion of Islamic State ties

The Kosovo police have announced that they arrested 19 persons over the past ten days on suspicion they had Islamic State ties.

"The police said the suspects were in contact with Islamic State member, self-declared commander of Albanians in Syria and Iraq Lavdrim Muhaxheri, from whom they received orders to attack," Reuters has reported.

Kosovo police have said nineteen people have been arrested across the country on suspicions of links to the Islamic State (IS) group and plans to carry out terrorist attacks.

The detainees supposedly sought to act in both Kosovo and Albania, the Bulgarian National Radio quotes officials as saying.

A government official said Kosovo confronted serious security cases after last week's police operation, which ended with 14 suspected members of a pro-ISIS group in detention.

The police sweep came after Kosovo institutions for months tried to calm public fears, saying the number of Kosovo citizens who had joined terrorist organizations in the Middle East lately had fallen fast.
