Fatal accident prompts strike at Perama Ship Repair Zone
Workers at the Perama Ship Repair Zone, situated northwest of the Piraeus port, have initiated a fresh 24-hour strike on Wednesday in response to a fatal accident that took place on Tuesday. As part of their protest, employees will gather outside the ISAP electric railway station in Piraeus at 10 a.m., while the Piraeus Labor Center has organized a rally at Korai Square in Piraeus at 7 p.m.

Pensioners staging Athens rally in demand of raise
Hundreds of pensioners gathered in downtown Athens on Tuesday morning to stage a protest rally at the Labor Ministry in demand of better pensions.
The pensioners also plan to march to the prime minister's office at the Maximos Mansion, where union representatives hope to deliver their demands.

Vietnam growth slows as exports slump
Vietnam's economic growth slowed in the first quarter of the year as exports slumped due to reduced consumer demand, authorities said yesterday.
The communist manufacturing hub's economy expanded by 3.32 percent in the January-March period, down from 5.05 percent in the same period of 2022.

‘Panic button’ app to help women facing domestic violence
A digital application for cellphones to support women facing violence at home, called "Panic Button," was introduced in Athens and Thessaloniki on March 23.
The free app is downloaded on a smartphone and activates the service by pressing on a button which sends a text message (sms) to the operational center of the police. The app contains the needed information to locate the user.
Digital labor card for state transport workers
The government is bringing forward the implementation of the digital labor card at state companies to the end of April, in the aftermath of the Tempe railway tragedy.
The findings of the investigation into the deadly train collision have reportedly deemed it imperative that the digital work card be introduced at public utility companies, especially those in transport.
