Russia Elections: Same Parties to Enter Parliament - Exit Poll

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev's United Russia party has won by a landslide the elections held in the country on Sunday, but has lost some support, exit polls have suggested.

Early poll results have shown the same four parties that made up the current Russian legislation in 2011 will have MPs in the 450-seat Parliament, daily Kommersant reports.

Meimarakis: Together we will achieve a higher percentage than 28%

Candidate Vangelis Meimarakis appeared optimistic about the election results and voters’ participation. According to information, about 40,000 voters have already cast their vote.

After casting his vote, Mr. Meimarakis said “Today New Democracy celebrates” stressing that there are neither winners nor losers, but today wins democracy within New Democracy party.

Leaders of Romania's main parties are to be invited to the presidential residence to start talks on the appointment of a new prime minister, after Victor Ponta resigned on Wednesday.

Ponta quit following mass protests over the nightclub fire that killed 32 young people.
