Romanian Penal Code Changes 'Shield Corrupt MPs'
Opposition parties have come out against changes to the criminal code that water down the procedure for approving pre-trial detention of suspects.
Romania's upper chamber, the Senate, on Monday approved an amendment to the code by which the prosecutors will only be able to arrest someone preventively if they have solid evidence that that person has broken the law.

National Liberal Party re-registered after merger with Democrat Liberals
