Social Democratic Party (PSD) Executive Chairman Liviu Dragnea in Alexandria, on Saturday, said that, in his opinion, Crin Antonescu would be "a mere passer-by" after the National Liberal Party (PNL) Congress.

Resigning chairman of the opposition National Liberal Party (PNL) Crin Antonescu said Thursday evening that he can surely be a candidate in this November's presidential election in Romania and that he can even win the election.

He reiterated that he will not run for PNL's national chairmanship, or else he would have not resigned the office in the first place.

Resigning chairman of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Crin Antonescu said Tuesday evening 'there is availability inside PNL for a merger of Right parties.' He believes any merger has its complications, but insists that currently PNL has no appetite for forging a new alliance.
