Chokehold killed man restrained by NYC subway passengers

A man who had been shouting at people aboard a New York City subway train died after fellow riders tackled him and one put him in a chokehold that lasted until his body went limp, according to police officials and video of the encounter.

Jordan Neely, 30, died from compression of the neck, the city's medical examiner determined Wednesday.

Weinstein tests positive for coronavirus

Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, U.S. media reported on March 22.    

Weinstein, 68, is in prison in northern New York state after being sentenced to 23 years in jail for rape and sexual assault.    

The fallen film producer's diagnosis was first reported on March 21 evening by local paper the Niagara Gazette.    

Russia's UN envoy Churkin dies suddenly in New York

Russia's combative ambassador to the United Nations, Vitaly Churkin, died suddenly in New York on Feb. 20 after being taken ill at work, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry gave no details on the circumstances of his death but offered condolences to his relatives and said the diplomat had died one day before his 65th birthday.
