Working with the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Canadian Opera Company and the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Greek National Opera (nationalopera.gr) is presenting a grand production of Luigi Cherubini's "Medee" on April 25, 27 and 30, and May 2, 4 and 9 at the Stavros Niarchos Hall (snfcc.org).

"Leontina Vaduva and the World's Greatest Stages" exhibition of works made by artist Florian Doru Crihana on December 2020 anniversary of the beloved soprano will stay open throughout March 8 in the lobby of the Museum of Bucharest, Sutu Palace.

Madama Butterfly | Thessaloniki & Athens | November 9 & 16

The Thessaloniki Concert Hall is screening a production of Giacomo Puccini's heart-wrenching drama "Madama Butterfly" live from the Metropolitan Opera in New York on Saturday, November 9, with the Athens Concert Hall following suit a week later, on November 16. Hui He stars as the devoted geisha who sacrifices everything for the dashing American navy officer Pinkerton, sung by Andrea Care.

The Athens Concert Hall will screen George Bizet's "Carmen" live in high-definition from the Metropolitan Opera in New York, on Saturday, February 9. The French romance is directed by Sir Richard Eyre, conducted by Louis Langree and stars Clementine Margaine, Aleksandra Kurzak, Roberto Alagna and Alexander Vinogradov. The performance is in the original French, with Greek surtitles.

The Athens Concert Hall is screening Giuseppe Verdi's "La Traviata" live from the Metropolitan Opera in New York at 7.55 p.m. on Friday. The richly textured new production by Michael Mayer is conducted by Yannick Nezet-Seguin and stars soprano Diana Damrau as the tragic heroine, Violetta, and tenor Juan Diego Florez returns as Alfredo, Violetta's hapless lover.
