Bulgaria: Green Corridors for Vaccination Reopen at Pirogov and Alexandrovska Hospitals

 

The "green corridors" for free vaccination against Covid-19 are working again, but under one condition: immunisation will be underway in major Sofia hospitals if there are no waiting patients listed for the first four phases of the vaccination plan. In some places, vaccines reserves are already exhausted and the sites are temporarily closed.

"Yesterday we noticed that more people were coming for vaccination between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., but in the afternoon it is generally very calm. As of 4 p.m. yesterday, 1,150 people had been vaccinated at the Military Medical Academy (MMA). That's what the Deputy Director of the MMA Col. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dimo Dimov told BGNES.

Nearly 30,000 vaccines have been administered in Bulgaria in the three days since Prime Minister Boyko Borissov ordered that "green lanes" should open for anyone willing to be inoculated against the coronavirus.  The authorities report the public is showing a strong interest in getting vaccinated.

 The first 10,000 vaccines developed by Pfizer/Biontech will arrive on December 26 in Bulgaria.

On the next day the immunization will begin and the first vaccinated will be medics working on the front line in the fight against COVID 19. This became clear at the briefing of the National Operations Headquarters.
