China’s CRBC Keen to Build Montenegrin Highway’s Next Stretch

According to a government report published on Wednesday outgoing Finance Minister Aleksandar Damjanovic and CRBC official Hei Shiquiang met on July 3 about potential cooperation on the construction of the second and third phases of the highway.

On July 13, Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic opened the first section of the highway, seven years after the Chinese-financed project started, and drove up Montenegro's public debt to 90.85 per cent of GDP.
Montenegrin Government Takes Tough Line on Harmful Hydropower Plants
On February 7, the Montenegrin government said they terminated concession contracts for seven hydro plants in the northern part of the country, stressing that five of the investors already filed lawsuits against the state. The Government said they will have to pay compensation to investors, accusing former authorities of making spontaneous hydropower construction planning.
