EUR 69m allocated for upgrade of ski resorts to all-year centres

Ljubljana – The Ministry of Economic Development and Technology has decided to allocate a total of EUR 69.14 million to 20 projects of development and restructuring of ski resorts into all-year mountain centres and construction of additional or renovation of the existing accommodation facilities.

Space and secure connectivity to be a priority for Brussels in 2022

Ljubljana – The Slovenian presidency of the Council of the EU co-hosted a virtual conference on Wednesday discussing the secure connectivity initiative, the third pillar of the EU space programme. European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton described space and the initiative as one of the European Commission’s priorities in 2022.

Luka Dončić and Mark Cuban honoured as tourism ambassadors

Ljubljana – Young Slovenian basketball ace Luka Dončić has been honoured by the Slovenian tourism community with the Crystal Triglav, awarded to those who contribute the most to Slovenia’s promotion around the world. Mark Cuban, the owner of Dončić’s NBA team Dallas Mavericks, became the ambassador of Slovenian tourism for 2021.

Rebel MPs opt out of SMC meeting

Ljubljana – Speaker Igor Zorčič and the head of the Modern Centre Party (SMC) deputy group Janja Sluga said they would not take part in yesterday’s session of the SMC council, pointing to alliances party leader Zdravko Počivalšek was forging behind the scenes. The council’s meeting meanwhile ended with the party closing ranks around Počivalšek.

Delo: Draft audit report finds PPE purchases inefficient

Ljubljana – The Court of Audit has found the purchases of personal protective equipment (PPE) during the spring wave of coronavirus were inefficient, according to a leaked draft report obtained by the newspaper Delo. The report does not name anyone in particular as especially problematic.
