Bulgaria Reopens Commercial Service in Macedonia

In a move to boost economic links between Bulgaria and Macedonia, Bulgaria's economy ministry has decided to re-launch the activities of its commerial and economy service in Skopje, which was closed in December 2015, its press office told BIRN in a statement.

A procedure to appoint Bulgarian representatives to be sent to the Macedonian capital has been launched, the ministry added.

Chinese, Russians, Canadians interested in copper mine

Investors from China, Russia and Canada have shown "great interest" in the RTB Bor copper mining and smelting complex in eastern Serbia.

Asset Rows Slow Sale of Serbia's Neglected Spas

Long-drawn-out court cases to determine who owns the assets of Serbia's 50 or so spas - many of which are run down - are slowing down their announced sale.

Serbia's Ministry of Economy told BIRN that litigation is ongoing between the state fund for pension and disability insurance, PIO, and the spas and the state over the PIO's percentage of ownership of the assets of the spas.

Ministry of Economy Prepares Measures to Ease Administrative Burden on Business

''Measures to ease the administrative burden on businesses are being prepared by the Ministry of Economy'', the Minister Emil Karanikolov said on 15th of June in the BNT programme "The Day Begins".

The Ministry of the Economy has examined 187 administrative services provided by the Ministry, the services subject to change were 113, 8 were removed.

Bulgarian Government Preparing to Ease Regime for Hiring Foreign Workers

With adoption of the Regulation on the implementation of the Labor Migration and Labor Mobility Act, the state will ease the regime for hiring foreign workers, the Ministry of Economy said, quoted by the Bulgarian National Radio.

It is expected that the rules will be adopted by the Council of Ministers next week.
