Turkish ministry denies report on Russian goods ban

Turkey has been implementing a liberal foreign trade policy in full accordance with rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO) as opposed to some reports in the media about Russian goods, according to Ministry of Economy on March 17. 

"As of March 17, there are some inaccurate reports in both domestic and international press about restrictions on import of some Russian goods. 

Croatian Agency Backs BIRN's Arms Investigation

Croatia's state-run Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday said that the country exported 73 million euros' worth of ammunition and 5 million euros of rocket or grenade launchers to Saudi Arabia in 2016.

The figures confirm those revealed in an investigation by Balkan Investigative Reporting Network, BIRN, and the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, OCCRP.

Hesteel to invest 120 mln dollars in Smederevo plant in 2017

BELGRADE - China's Hesteel Group will invest 120 mln dollars in the Smederevo steel mill in 2017, the group's President Yu Yong said after meeting with Serbian Minister of Economy Goran Knezevic on Wednesday.

The funds will be invested directly in reconstruction and acquisition of equipment and technology to improve operation even further, announced Yong.

Serbian companies "Lasta", "Luka Novi Sad" on sale

BELGRADE - In the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Economy remained 174 companies, but only few of them are attractive enough for privatization. By the end of the year 13 of them should be put to sale, and among them will be "Lasta" and "Luka Novi Sad". In the next round of privatization, experts estimate that spas and public companies will be put to sale.

EIB interested in funding new projects in Serbia

BELGRADE - The European Investment Bank (EIB) is interested in development of public-private partnerships in Serbia, as well as in further development of regional projects and roads as part of the European transport network, the head of the EIB Regional Office for the Western Balkans, Dubravka Negre, said Monday at a meeting with Serbian Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic.

PM to talk "about factories, not about defense minister"

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has refused to say who will be Serbia's new minister of defense, adding he will "talk about this during party conferences."

"Today I speak about factories," Vucic declared on Friday in Novi Sad, where he attended the signing of an agreement on incentives between the Ministry of Economy and the Delphi Packard company.

Serbian Business Agency Accused of Delaying Report

Serbia's Agency for Business Registers is four months behind schedule in publishing its analysis on business conditions in 2014 in Serbia. The deadline expired in June.

The Agency declined to disclose the reasons for a delay.

Gabrijela Petkovic-Jovanovic, from the agency, told BIRN on Friday that the analysis would be published next week.
