1000 Cases of Violence Against Children are Registered in Bulgaria Only for this Year

About 1,000 cases of child abuse are registered in 2019 by the Agency for Social Assistance. Most cases were registered in Sofia, Montana, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo. This was reported today by Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy Zornitsa Rusinova to the delegates of the two-day regional conference aimed at preventing and dealing with violence against children, the social ministry said.

Bulgaria's capital Sofia hosts a regional conference on the prevention and elimination violence against children organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies, the State Agency for Child Protection, UNICEF, the World Health Organization and non-government organizations.

Distribution of school lunches to start on Monday

The Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity will begin distributing school lunches on Monday, as part of a program aimed at helping youngsters whose families are having trouble making ends meet.

The distribution will cover 831 schools and 90 percent of the families who applied across Greece for assistance.

The remainder are expected to be covered within the next few days.
