Race through Serbia starts Thursday

POZAREVAC - The 54th International Cycling Race through Serbia will start in Pozarevac on Thursday.

A total of 25 domestic and international teams will be at the starting line.

The Serbian team will be headed by double champion Ivan Stevic alongside Marko Danilovic, Marko Stankovic, Jovan Zekavica and Stefan Stefanovic.

Udovicic: Privatization in sports is necessary

NOVI SAD - Serbia's Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovicic said on Friday that it is necessary to engage in the changes and modernization of the sports system in Serbia.

We have set out to modernize all segments of the society, so it is necessary to modernize the sports system as well, Udovicic said in a public debate on privatization in sports, held in Novi Sad.

Borovcanin calls for jobs for young Serbs in KiM

PRILUZJE - The survival of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) depends on the resolution of security issues, but also on the employment opportunities for young people, said Nenad Borovcanin, State Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Friday, addressing the young residents of Priluzje, a Serb-majority village in the municipality of Vucitrn, northeastern KiM.

Bulgaria's Totalizator Gave BGN 27M for Sports in 2013

Bulgarian Sports Totalizator has rendered BGN 26,938,000 to the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2013, a total of BGN 4M more than in 2012.

The increase was primarily due to changes in the Totalizator's regulations, namely a 17% cost reduction, and 18% of revenues allocated to sports, Dnevnik informs.

RSD 8.63 billion allocated to civil society projects

BELGRADE - A total of RSD 9.23 billion (EUR 1 = RSD 116) have been allocated from the Serbian budget and RSD 8.63 billion paid for projects and programs of civil society organizations in 2012, it was stated today at the presentation of the annual report of the Serbian government Office for Cooperation with Civil Society.
