Turkey says Greece's statements on ties 'contradicting'

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said early on Nov. 21 that Greece was holding a provocative and adversarial attitude toward Turkey while talking about dialogue.

Spokesman Tanju Bilgiç said in a statement that Greece was not able to stomach the crucial role Turkey plays in its region and the immediate surroundings in the context of ensuring peace and stability.

Turkish FM visits Saudi Arabia amid tension in Jerusalem

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has started his two-day official visit to Saudi Arabia after years of strained relations with the Gulf country since the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul.

The visit comes as Turkey and Saudi Arabia have stepped up to restore ties and amid the ongoing tensions in Jerusalem after Israeli aggression at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Turkish, Egyptian foreign ministers speak by phone

The foreign ministers of Turkey and Egypt spoke by phone on April 10, the Turkish foreign ministry said, their first direct contact since a push by Ankara to improve strained ties between the regional powerhouses.

The two ministers exchanged good wishes over the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which starts next week, the ministry added, but gave no further details.

All Anadolu Agency staffer released after detention in Egypt

All of Anadolu Agency staffers, who were detained by Egyptian police earlier this week, were released, said the agency head on Jan. 19.

"All our staff members, detained in Egypt on Jan. 14 have been released," Anadolu Agency Director-General Şenol Kazancı said.

On Jan. 14 evening, Egyptian police raided the Cairo office of Anadolu Agency and detained four employees.
