In a move to streamline the electoral process and increase voter participation, President Rumen Radev declared that Bulgaria will witness a unique amalgamation of extraordinary parliamentary elections and European Parliament elections on June 9. Radev's decision aims to save resources and prevent voter fatigue by consolidating both elections into a single voting day.

As Bulgaria gears up for early parliamentary elections (6th in the last 3 years), the Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced its readiness for a unique scenario: holding both parliamentary and European Parliament (EP) elections either simultaneously or with a one-week gap.

In line with constitutional protocol, President Rumen Radev will convene with Dimitar Glavchev, the candidate for acting Prime Minister, tomorrow, April 5th, at 9:30 a.m. at "Dondukov" 2. Glavchev, assigned on March 30th to propose a composition for a caretaker government, is expected to present his official cabinet draft during the meeting.

This Thursday, NATO foreign ministers convene in Brussels to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the alliance's establishment, marked by the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty in Washington on April 4, 1949. Central to NATO's mission is the principle of collective defense, wherein an attack on any member nation is considered an attack on all.

In a recent statement, GERB leader Boyko Borissov issued a stark warning to his former coalition partners, declaring that the National Assembly could halt or even sell the "Balkan Stream" (TurkStream) project as early as today. The threat comes amidst escalating tensions in Bulgarian politics, with Borissov accusing his counterparts of potentially betraying the national interest.

Despite public declarations of willingness to adhere to constitutional procedures and the President's decision, none of the candidates expressed a clear desire to take on the responsibility.

With the resignation of Deputy Ombudsman Elena Cherneva Markova, the list of possibilities has narrowed to nine, prompting intense deliberations at the highest levels of government.

Today at 11:00 a.m. at "Dondukov" 2, the head of state Rumen Radev presented the third mandate for the formation of a government to the "There Is Such a People" parliamentary group, which was supposed to nominate a candidate for prime minister.

The President handed "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB) the second mandate to form a government.
