The leader of the largest party in parliament "There is such a people" Slavi Trifonov announced on his facebook page that his party is in opposition.

President Rumen Radev Tuesday holds further consultations with the parties represented in the 46th National Assembly within the constitutional procedure for handing an exploratory mandate for the formation of a government.

Ljubljana – Four centre-left parties are planning to file a motion to vote Education Minister Simona Kustec out of office, arguing that two weeks before the start of the new school year, it is still not clear how primary and secondary schools will organise the education process while the epidemiological situation in the country is deteriorating.

Members of Parliament adopted a decision by an absolute majority, according to which the Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev must submit a report on the investigation of the police violence. The report must be submitted to parliament by Friday, August 20th.

The political situation is exacerbated, along with the crises Bulgaria is facing. This brings forth the need to form a regular government within the incumbent National Assembly.

Bulgarians stranded in Afghanistan will be evacuated. This was announced by the caretaker Prime Minister Stefan Yanev during his visit to the village of Gabrovo.

In the village, he met with firefighters and forest officials.
Yanev clarified that there are more than 11 Bulgarians in Afghanistan and the necessary measures have already been taken for their evacuation.

Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev commented for BTA on the intention stated by MPs to request his hearing within the extraordinary sitting of parliament scheduled for Tuesday.

According to him there is a long-standing practice of the Constitutional Court, which excludes the exercise of parliamentary control over the work of specific magistrates and during pending cases.

"I watched with indignation, pain and anxiety the published footage of the violence against young protesters in the summer of 2020. I share this not only as Speaker of the National Assembly and lawyer, but also as a citizen, wife and mother." This is stated in a statement by the Speaker of the 46th National Assembly Iva Miteva.

Bulgaria's caretaker Premier Stefan Yanev called on the MPs to amend the state budget, in order to meet the challenges related to the new Covid-19 wave and avoid social tension later in the autumn. "We are witnessing a complicated situation in Bulgaria's political life. All this leads to instability and unpredictability in this country's political environment", noted Premier Yanev.
