Head of Bulgarian Coronavirus Task Force: It’s Too Early to Relax, Pandemic Is Far from Over

Our vigilance should not be lulled despite positive trends. On a 2-week basis, we have a decrease in morbidity of about 40%. on a week-on-week basis we have about 25% reduction. That's what Major General Prof. Ventsislav Mutafchiiski said at a briefing on the national coronavirus task force (NOHQ).

Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Orders Start of Mass Vaccination

Nearly 30,000 vaccines have been administered in Bulgaria in the three days since Prime Minister Boyko Borissov ordered that "green lanes" should open for anyone willing to be inoculated against the coronavirus.  The authorities report the public is showing a strong interest in getting vaccinated.

No More Daily Briefings for COVID-19 in Bulgaria

The restrictions introduced in Bulgaria due to the coronavirus will probably be lifted on June 15. Wearing masks indoors will be a recommendation. For the time being, the 14-day quarantine for arrivals to Bulgaria from the 8 countries in the EU with high incidence of coronavirus is not expected to be lifted. The daily briefings of the National Coronavirus Task Force will no longer be held.

The Pilot Census will be Conducted only Online and will Take Place from April 20th to April 30th

The Central Census Commission has declared that the Pilot Census will start on 20th of April and will be conducted only through an electronic census card. The Census was pushed back a month due to the epidemiological situation in the country and the health safety measures recommended by the national coronavirus task force.

Bulgaria’s Government Proposes Extension of the Coronavirus State of Emergency

Bulgaria's Council of Ministers on April 1 decided to propose to the Parliament to extend the state of emergency to 13 May 2020.

The state of emergency was initially introduced for one month. It was approved by Bulgaria's Parliament on March 13 as a measure to limit the spread of the new coronavirus.

Bulgaria’s Parliament Set to Shut

With 115 votes in favour and 65 against, MPs on March 26 accepted the proposal of the Parliament's Speaker, Tsveta Karayancheva, to temporarily suspend sittings. The measure is part of government efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Sittings will only be convened when emergency laws are adopted. Parliamentary questions time will be in writing.

Coronavirus Cases Rised to 31 in Bulgaria

Eight new cases of Covid-19 coronavirus were confirmed in Bulgaria on March 13, thus bringing the total to 31 cases.

Seven of them were announced by the national coronavirus task force at a briefing after the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers.

Six New Cases of Coronavirus in Bulgaria, Total of 37

Six new cases of Covid-19 coronavirus were confirmed in Bulgaria on March 14, prof. Ventsislav Mutafchiyski, the head of the national coronavirus task force said at the regular daily update at 5 pm.

Five of the cases were confirmed in the laboratory of the Military Medical Academy in Sofia and one in the national reference laboratory again in Sofia.
