Pilot killed in military plane crash in central Turkey

A Turkish pilot was killed when a military plane crashed on April 7 in central Turkey, according to the National Defense Ministry.

"An NF-5 aircraft belonging to our Air Force, which was on a training flight in [central] Konya, suffered an accident at 14:15 [1115 GMT] for an unknown reason," the ministry said on Twitter.

Turkish, US defense chiefs discuss cooperation

The defense chiefs of Turkey and the U.S. held a phone call on April 1, discussing regional security and bilateral defense cooperation.

Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin exchanged views and underlined the significance of strategic relations during the talk, according to Turkey's National Defense Ministry.

Rockets fired from Syria fall in southern Turkey

Rockets fired from across the border with Syria fell in Turkey's southern Kilis province, the country's National Defense Ministry said late on March 18. 

"Rockets determined to be fired from Syria fell on an empty field in Kilis. No citizens were injured and no damage or loss occurred in the incident," the ministry said on Twitter.

Syrian regime targets civilian settlements in Jarablus, al-Bab

Ballistic missiles fired from Syrian regime-controlled Kuweires airport in Aleppo have targeted civilian settlements and parking lots for fuel tankers in northern Jarablus and al-Bab districts, with civilian casualties reported, Turkey's National Defense Ministry said early on March 15.
