On Wednesday, Bulgaria will experience severe weather conditions, with code orange and yellow alerts issued for heavy rain and thunderstorms. The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology announced that significant precipitation is expected in Central and Eastern Bulgaria.

The summer of 2024, encompassing June, July, and August, has been recorded as the hottest and one of the driest in Bulgaria since the start of the century. According to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH), the highest temperature measured was 42.2 degrees Celsius in Sandanski on July 16.

The ongoing drought in Bulgaria is attributed to record-high temperatures and outdated infrastructure, according to Acting Minister of Environment and Waters, Petar Dimitrov. He presented his assessment during a hearing before the National Assembly, where he was joined by Minister of Agriculture, Georgi Tahov, and Regional Minister, Violeta Koritarova.

A Yellow Code warning has been issued for showers and thunderstorms on Friday, covering the regions of Silistra, Razgrad, Targovishte, Shumen, Varna, Dobrich, Burgas, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Pazardjik, and Smolyan. The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) also forecasts the possibility of hail.

This September, average monthly temperatures in Bulgaria are expected to be above the usual range, which typically varies between 17 and 20 degrees for most of the country and between 3 and 10 degrees in the mountains.

The weather in Bulgaria is expected to change significantly, with the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) issuing a yellow code warning for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on August 28. Citizens are advised to prepare for potentially severe weather conditions.

On Thursday, sunny skies are expected, with cumulus clouds forming in the afternoon. These clouds will be more prominent over the mountainous regions of Western and Central Bulgaria, where short-term rainfall and thunderstorms are anticipated.

Bulgaria is bracing for hazardous heat, with the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) issuing orange and yellow codes across the country. Blagoevgrad is under an orange code, while a yellow code has been issued for Vidin, Vratsa, Montana, Gabrovo, Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Stara Zagora, Silistra, Lovech, Kyustendil, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Haskovo, and Kardjali.

An "orange" code indicating dangerously hot weather has been issued for 10 regions of Bulgaria, while a "yellow" code applies to 14 other regions. Maximum temperatures in Western and Central Bulgaria are expected to range between 32 and 39 degrees.
