A code orange for dangerous weather with heavy rainfall is in effect today for 15 areas of Bulgaria. This shows a reference on the website of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.
These are Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Lovech, Sofia region, Sofia city, Pernik, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Smolyan, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv and Stara Zagora.
Bulgaria: Three Days of Torrential Rains in Sofia
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) predicts torrential and quite intense rains in the western part of the country for the next three days.
Total quantities of more than 100 liters per square meter are expected, according to the on-duty forecaster Anastasia Stoycheva, BTA reported.

Weather in Bulgaria: Cloudy and Rainy Today
Cloudy weather will prevail today and in some places, mainly in the western half of Bulgaria, there will be short-term rains and thunderstorms.
There will be no precipitation along the Danube. In Eastern Bulgaria, a light wind will blow from the east-northeast. Maximum temperatures will be between 23°C and 28°C, in Sofia around 23°C.

Yellow Code for Rainfall and Thunderstorms has been announced for half of Bulgaria
A yellow code for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms is in effect for 18 municipalities in Western and Central Bulgaria, according to a reference on the website of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.
Weather in Bulgaria: Yellow Code for Rain in almost all of the country
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a yellow code for intense rain and thunderstorms for today, May 17, for almost all of Bulgaria. Exceptions are only four districts in the north-eastern part of the country - Shumen, Silistra, Dobrich and Varna.

The warning is for the regions of Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Lovech, Pazardjik, Plovdiv and Sliven, where wind gusts can reach over 100 km/h.
The Weather in Bulgaria will be Sunny and Windy with a sharp Cooling in the evening
Today before noon it will be mostly sunny, but windy. A strong and gusty wind will blow from the south-southwest. After noon, the wind will shift from the northwest, at the latest in Eastern Bulgaria, and cold air will begin to invade with it, reports the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.
