Greek health authorities announce 75 Covid-related deaths
The National Organization for Public Health (EODY) announced on Thursday that a total of 75 Covid-19 related deaths were recorded between March 13 and March 19, while intubations eased to 71. The rate of new intubations over that period was 36% less than the average in the previous four weeks.
Health authorities report 89 Covid-19 related deaths
The National Organization for Public Health (EODY) announced 89 deaths related to Covid-19 on Thursday for the preceding week. The positivity rate remained stable.
The number of hospital admissions due to the virus decreased by 3.4%, but the rate of new intubations was increased by 7%.
The current number of intubated patients stands at 95.
Covid fatalities and hospital admissions down
Health authorities on Thursday announced that 169 patients with Covid-19 died from January 23 to January 29, a 4% decrease on the average over the preceding four weeks.
The Covid-related fatalities had a median age of 85 years, the National Organization for Public Health's (EODY) weekly epidemiological report for respiratory infections said.

Covid claims 186 lives last week
Health authorities on Thursday announced that 186 patients with Covid-19 died from January 9 to January 15, an increase of 16% on the previous week.

‘Kraken’ Covid subvariant detected in Greece
XBB.1.5, the latest Omicron Covid subvariant that has been nicknamed "Kraken", has arrived in Greece, with six cases being detected last week, the National Organization for Public Health's (EODY) weekly epidemiological report for respiratory infections has said.
All six samples were detected in Attica, specifically in the western and northern areas of Athens.

Covid and flu claim 144 lives last week
Health authorities on Thursday announced that 141 patients with Covid-19 and three with flu died in the week from December 26 to January 1.
The Covid-related fatalities had a median age of 84 years, ranging from 2 years to 102 years, the National Organization for Public Health's (EODY) weekly epidemiological report for respiratory infections said.

Another 1,410 new Covid-19 cases reported on Friday
The National Organization for Public Health (EODY) reported 1,410 new infections on Friday, which drove the total number to 170,244.
None of them were reported at the country's entry points.
At the same time, 21 patients died from Covid-19, raising the total number of fatalities to 6,077. The median age of those who died was 80 years.
More lockdowns on the horizon as numbers continue to rise
At least two more parts of Greece are close to a full lockdown similar to that which began in Attica Thursday, as data continue to show a four-digit rise in coronavirus infections.
Authorities report 1,496 new virus infections
The number of new infections remained high for a second day on Wednesday, with Greek health authorities announcing 1,496 new cases from 1,526 on Tuesday, which brought the total number to 167,549.

New SARS-CoV-2 infections soar past 1,500
The number of new infections announced by Greek health authorities jumped to 1,526 on Tuesday, from 638 on Monday, bringing the total number of recorded cases to 166,067.
Of the total number of new cases, 750 were in Attica and 174 in Thessaloniki.
