Kilkis official blames spike in Covid-19 numbers on lab error
The regional governor of the Kilkis said on Tuesday that a spike in the new number of infections reported in the northern Greek region on Monday was the result of a mistake made a private diagnostic lab in the city of Thessaloniki.
89 new Covid-19 deaths reported, 1,251 new infections
Greek health authorities announced 1,251 new SARS-CoV-2 infections in the country on Monday, with the overall count since the start of the pandemic reaching 116,721.
Of the new cases, only 20 are related to foreign travel.
The National Organization for Public Health (EODY) reported in its daily bulletin another 89 deaths from Covid-19, bringing the total death toll to 3,092.
Greece to ban entry to infected visitors from land borders
Anyone arriving at Greece's land borders who test positive for the novel coronavirus will not be allowed to enter the country, Deputy Civil Protection Minister Nikos Hardalias announced on Friday.
Speaking during a regular press briefing on the developments with the pandemic, Hardalias also said that authorities will ban visits to the monasteries of Mount Athos.
Extensive testing planned in large industrial units of northern Greece
Mobile units of the National Organization for Public Health (EODY) will conduct rapid antigen tests in large industrial units in the northern regions of Xanthi, Drama, Pella, Florina, Pieria and Imathia in the coming days, amid concerns about the spread of the coronavirus.
98 new Covid-19 deaths, lower number of infections
Greek health authorities announced 1,667 new SARS-CoV-2 cases on Friday, pushing the total number to 113,185.
Of the new cases, only nine were detected in Attica.
The daily death toll was also high on Friday, with the National Organization for Public Health (EODY) reporting 98 new deaths from Covid-19, raising the total number of fatalities to 2,804.

The new cases of SARS-CoV-2 remained above the 2,000 mark on Tuesday, while intubations rose again, according to a daily bulletin from the National Organization for Public Health (EODY).
Health authorities announced 2,186 new infections, which raised the overall number to 109,655.
Of these new cases, 28 were reported at the country's entry points.
111 Covid-19 deaths reported and 2,199 new infections
The number of new SARS-CoV-2 cases rose again on Tuesday with 2,199 infections reported from 1,044 on Monday.
Of these new cases, 25 were reported at the country's entry points.
Greece's total number of confirmed coronavirus cases is now 107,470, the National Organization for Public Health (EODY) said in its daily bulletin.
