The Average Insured Income in Bulgaria for January is BGN 951.57

The average insured income for the country in January 2019 is BGN 951.57, the National Social Security Institute reported.

Compared to December, there was a slight decrease of 0.35%, but usually in the last month of the year the insured income is higher because of the bonuses paid. Compared to a year earlier, the increase was 10.24%.

New Pension Calculation Formula in Bulgaria will not Lead to Pension Cuts

Steps will be taken to ensure that not a single person's pension is lowered by revisions to the pension calculation rules that took effect at the start of 2019, Labour and Social Policy Minister Bisser Petkov said following an extraordinary meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borrisov on 19th of March, reports BNT. 

146 000 Are the Working Pensioners in Bulgaria

146 000 are the working pensioners in our country, according to data from the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) at the end of 2018 provided to Monitor Newspaper. The number of Bulgarians who choose to work after retirement has been growing steadily since 2014, with only 18,500 in the last two years.

Every month 1,871 pensioners seek employment through the labor office.

Average Social Security Income For the Country for December 2018 was BGN 954.90

The National Social Security Institute announced that the average social security income for the country for December 2018 was BGN 954.90. The average monthly social security income for the country for the period from 01.01.2018 to 31.12.2018 was BGN 889,90.

More and More Men in Bulgaria Take Paternity Leave

More and more men are taking paternity leave, according to an analysis by the National Social Security Institute, reports Mediapool. 

Their number has increased by about 20% over the period from 2014 to 2017 and the latest figures are over 21,000.

Costs for pregnancy and childbirth benefits increased by nearly 28% over the same period. The total amount reaches BGN 368 million.
