Bulgarians Traveling Abroad increase in May: Turkey and Greece are the most Desirable Destinations

The trips of Bulgarian citizens abroad in May 2023 were 772.5 thousand, or 5.9% more than in the same month last year, announced the National Statistical Institute.

The biggest growth is in trips with the so-called "other purposes" (visiting, attending concerts and sports events, training, procedures). Vacations and excursions grew by 8%, while business trips decreased by 10%.

11.5% of Bulgarians do not have a Toilet in their Home

11.5% of inhabited dwellings in Bulgaria do not have an indoor toilet, 6.9% do not have a bathroom at home. 0.2% of dwellings in cities and 0.7% - in villages are without a source of water, according to data published today by the National Statistical Institute on housing conditions, collected during the fall 2021 census.

Deflation in Bulgaria for the First Time this year

For the first time in the last two years, the National Statistical Institute reported deflation. It is only 0.1% in May compared to April. For the last time, and only once in June, deflation was reported in June 2021.

On an annual basis, however, inflation remains in double digits and is 10.1%. Food prices continue to rise.

Growth of Bulgarian Exports by 3.6% in the first 4 months of 2023 - Decrease in April by 11.2%

The total Bulgarian export of goods to the European Union and third countries increased in the first four months of the year by 3.6% compared to a year earlier, while imports into they country increased by only 0.05%, according to preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI).
