New Covid Restrictions in Greece

Following up on Monday's announcement by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias reiterated Tuesday that the vaccination of all staff at private and public nursing homes and units for the disabled is mandatory and that all must get at least the first dose of the vaccine by August 16.

A debate has started in recent days regarding how coronavirus vaccinations are being prioritized, with some members of the opposition accusing the government of putting 60-64-year-olds above groups of people with medical conditions that may make them more vulnerable to Covid-19.

AstraZeneca jabs for ages 60-64 to start after Feb 12

Greece's National Vaccination Committee has unanimously approved the vaccine against the coronavirus produced by pharmaceuticals firm AstraZeneca for those aged 64 and younger.

More specifically, vaccinations for the 60-64 age group will start sometime after February 12, it was announced on Friday.

The online registration platform will open in the coming days.
