Letter links fate of Greek soldiers in Turkey to that of Turkish officers in Greece

A letter sent by the head of Turkey's delegation to NATO's Parliamentary Assembly, Ahmet Berat Conkar, to European Parliament President Antonio Tajani tacitly links the fate of two Greek soldiers detained in Turkey in early March to that of eight Turkish officers who fled to Greece in the wake of the 2016 botched coup.

Moldova Asks UN to Press Russia Over Transnistria

Moldova asked the United Nations on Wednesday to discuss the withdrawal of Russian troops from the separatist region of Transnistria at the upcoming 72nd session of the General Assembly.

The Moldovan Ambassador to the UN, Victor Moraru, forwarded a letter from his government that calls the presence of Russian troops in Transnistria a threat to international peace and security.

A dangerous escalation of Turkey's tension with Russia

Actually, the tension is not only between Turkey and Russia but between the NATO alliance and Russia. NATO's Parliamentary Assembly urged its 28 members on May 30, after sessions in Tirana, to stand up to Russia's military "assertiveness" and "to provide reassurance" to those allies who feel their security is under threat, "focusing on the eastern and southern flanks of the alliance."
