Putin Puts Russia's Western Military District, Northern Fleet on Combat Alert
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the Northern Fleet, units of the airborne forces and the Western Military District on full combat alert from 08:00 Moscow time on Monday.
This was announced by Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu, who explained that these developments are part of snap checks, TASS news agency reports.

Russia, Greek Cyprus sign military deal on use of Mediterranean ports
Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Greek Cypriot counterpart Nicos Anastasiades signed an agreement on Feb. 25 to give Russian military ships access to Greek Cypriot ports.
"We signed a number of documents regarding our military cooperation. For example regarding the entrance of our ships to Greek Cypriot ports," Putin told journalists.
Cyprus signs military deal with Russia
MOSCOW ? Cyprus on Wednesday signed a deal with Russia allowing its navy ships to make regular port calls on the island.
The deal with European Union member Cyprus, which also hosts British military bases, comes amid Russia-West tensions over Ukraine, the worst since the Cold War times.

Divers find black box of crashed AirAsia jet: Indonesia ministry
Indonesian divers Jan. 11 found the black box of the AirAsia plane which crashed in the Java Sea a fortnight ago with 162 people aboard, the transport ministry said.
But they failed to retrieve it because it was stuck under debris from the main body of the plane, it added.

Italy finds 700 migrants on 'drifting' ship
Italy's navy on Dec. 30 said it had taken control of a ship carrying some 700 migrants, including a heavily pregnant woman, after it issued a distress call near the Greek island of Corfu.
Coastguards flown out to the ship by helicopter found hundreds of mainly Syrian illegal migrants on board, Italian media reported, citing military sources.
