Fired US Navy captain leaves his ship to sailors applause

U.S. Navy Capt. Brett Crozier departed the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier to raucous cheers from his crew after being fired for raising the alarm on the spread of the coronavirus on the ship.

The vast outpouring of support for the dismissed captain was captured on video by those on or near the ship who recorded as the crew yelled his name in between unison claps.

Pakistan eyes more defense cooperation with Turkey, official says

Pakistan wants to enhance its defense cooperation with Turkey, said the general manager of STM, a leading Turkish defense firm.

The firm has developed several projects for Pakistan in the last decade with a special focus on its navy, Murat İkinci said.

It has pioneered many projects for Turkey and its projects in Pakistan have created export opportunities for many companies.

New suspected coronavirus case examined in Athens hospital

A man was admitted to a coronavirus isolation unit of Athens' Soritia hospital on Tuesday showing flu-like symptoms, according to news website Skai.

A sample of his DNA has been sent to the Pasteur Institute to determine whether he has been infected with the new coronavirus or a regular flu. The results of the tests are expected at about 7 p.m.

14 Rohingya die, dozens unaccounted for as boat sinks off Bangladesh

At least 14 people drowned and dozens more were unaccounted for after a boat carrying Rohingya refugees sank off southern Bangladesh early on Feb. 11, officials said.    

Some 130 people were packed on the fishing trawler that was trying to get across the Bay of Bengal to Malaysia, coast guard spokesman Hamidul Islam told AFP. Seventy of them had so far been rescued.
