ND given less than 10%-point lead over SYRIZA in latest poll

Ruling New Democracy (ND) party's lead over main opposition SYRIZA party dropped below 10 percentage points, according to results in a latest opinion poll released on Monday.

The poll was conducted by the Alco firm and presented on the Athens-based Open television channel's prime-time newscast.

Tsipras tables ‘no confidence’ motion against Greek gov’t in Parliament

Greece's main opposition leader, former premier Alexis Tsipras, tabled a "no confidence" motion in Parliament on Thursday morning, accusing Kyriakos Mitsotakis' center-right government of botching the state's reaction this week to a heavy snow storm in the country, especially the greater Athens area, as well as failing to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.

ERBD nod of confidence towards PPC; 75-mln€ stake in latter’s 1.35-bln€ share capital increase

The European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (ERBD) on Monday announced a 75-million-euro investment in Public Power Corp. (PPC), the ATHEX-listed utility that ranks as Greece's dominant electricity provider and producer.

The European development bank said it has joined a 1.35-billion-euro share capital increase announced by PPC.

Parliament lifts immunity for three MPs

Greek lawmakers on Thursday voted to lift the immunity of three MPs in separate cases previously discussed in the Parliament's Ethics Committee.

A total of 224 MPs in a total of 225 agreed to lift the immunity of former health minister Andreas Loverdos, as regards the ongoing investigation into the handling of the Novartis case.
