KUL parties welcome DeSUS decision to leave govt, SMC and NSi call for stability
Ljubljana – The Pensioners’ Party’s (DeSUS) decision to leave the government was welcomed by the four centre-left parties from the informal Constitutional Arch Coalition (KUL). The Modern Centre Party (SMC), which KUL would also like to leave the government, and the coalition New Slovenia (NSi) said the health crisis is no time to topple the government.
Coalition partners review government projects
Brdo pri Kranju – Coalition officials reviewed the implementation of the coalition agreement and discussed further steps as they met at Brdu pri Kranju on Thursday. Details were sketchy but statements after the meeting suggest there are no major differences between the partners in the ruling coalition.

Universal basic income enjoys almost 50% support
Ljubljana – As many as 48% of respondents in a Valicon survey support the introduction of universal basic income (UBI) in Slovenia, as opposed to 14% who oppose it. The rest are either undecided (21%) or think they are not informed well enough (20%). The idea is most popular among voters of the opposition Left.

New govt to revive conscription, secure border
This follows from a 13-page draft coalition agreement obtained by the STA. The draft was initialled on Monday by Janša's Democrats (SDS), New Slovenia (NSi), Modern Centre Party (SMC) and Pensioners Party (DeSUS), but unofficial information indicates the parties have already signed the agreement.

Parties deem EU's role in fight against climate change crucial
The conservative alliance of the Democratic Party (SDS) and People's Party (SLS), which has been leading in the opinion polls, argues that the EU as the most advanced society must initiate environmental-friendly technological solutions.
They also believe that more should be done to switch to clean energy sources and to a circular economy.
Final results of general election 2018: SDS won all electoral units, Ljubljana leans to the left
Slovenian voters cast 2,473 valid general election ballots at diplomatic and consular offices abroad. The largest number of votes, 720, went to the election winner, SDS, while another right-leaning party, New Slovenia (NSi), came second with 438 votes, according to the National Electoral Commission. The left got 260 votes, followed by SD with 244 and the Modern Centre Party (SMC) with 192.
Parties want funds for science to increase to 1-3% of GDP
The ruling Modern Centre Party (SMC) would raise the budgetary funds for science to 1% of GDP, but did not specify in what period, whereas the non-parliamentary Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ) would also raise them to 1%, but it would do it gradually, by 2022.
