Former Hürriyet Daily News staff attacked in US

Emine Yılmaz Özsoy, A Turkish artist living in the U.S., became a victim of a brutal attack on May 21 as she was shoved by an assailant into a moving subway train in Manhattan, with authorities reporting that she was left "instantly paralyzed."

The 35-year-old woman, also a former Hürriyet Daily News employee, was on the subway platform to board the same train with the attacker.

Turkish House in New York attacked

The Turkish House building in New York, which hosts the Permanent Mission of Türkiye to the United Nations and the Consulate General, came under attack on May 22, as an unknown assailant carrying an iron stick smashed multiple windows of the building.

The attack was reported at around 3:15 a.m. on the East Side of Manhattan, according to the New York Police Department.

Prince Harry, Meghan in ‘near catastrophic’ car chase

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were involved in a "near catastrophic car chase" with paparazzi in New York, a spokesperson for the couple said on May 17.

But police and even the mayor of New York City, as well as a taxi driver who briefly transported the couple, played down the danger and duration of the reported pursuit.

New York holds breath over expected Trump indictment

With barricades set up near Trump Tower and police on high alert, New York was holding its breath Wednesday for the likely indictment of Donald Trump, but the timing remained uncertain.

The ex-president himself claimed he would be arrested on Tuesday over hush money paid to a pornographic actress, but the day came and went and there were no signs of an indictment or arrest.
