Universities turning attention to labor market

The presence for the first time of a Hellenic Federation of Enterprises and Industries (SEV) representative at Friday's meeting of rectors sent a clear message that universities are turning their attention to the labor market.

Tellingly, the rectors are calling on the Education Ministry to strengthen the institution of the practical training of graduates.

Wages rising in Japan but inflation eats away at consumer gains

Wages are rising in Japan more than they have in decades, at least for some workers.

Bulgaria has maintained its Rating in the Latest Edition of the Wealth of Nations Index

The Wealth of Nations Index is an innovative measure of economic development created by the Warsaw Enterprise Institute. Out of 38 classified countries (EU+OECD), Bulgaria ranks 36th. This is a rise of one notch compared to the previous edition. Ireland along with Switzerland and the United States are the top 3 countries on WNI.

Caretaker PM: Bulgaria meets the OECD Standards to a High Degree

"Our initial self-assessment showed that Bulgaria meets OECD standards to a high degree. With maximum internal mobilization, we have the ability to complete the accession process in about three years." This was commented by Caretaker Prime Minister Galab Donev at a joint press conference with OECD Secretary-General Matthias Korman.

Funding for R&D can fuel growth and support democratic institutions in Greece

In July 2022 Professors Konstantinos Drosatos and Nicholas Ktistakis published a letter in Nature, the pre-eminent scientific journal, demanding the creation of a national research foundation in Greece. Forty scientists, including myself, were co-signatories. The letter raised one fundamental issue, namely the lack of systematic funding that would support research in Greece.

Torn down by growing debt and a barrage of crises, leaders of the world's poorest countries have stepped up calls for the rules governing handouts of billions of dollars to be rewritten.

Western nations gave out more than $185 billion in grants and cheap loans in 2021, according to the OECD. Official development assistance is one of the pillars of the international financial system.
