Humanity is being "insensitive" to the ongoing violence against Rohingya Muslims in the southeastern Asian country of Myanmar, Turkey's president said on Sept. 1. 

Turkey continued to push for rapid international action regarding the suffering of the Rohingya Muslims, an ethnic minority community in Myanmar, with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan having a phone conversation with U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres on the issue on Aug. 30.

Ankara has demanded the international community take immediate action to help Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, with top officials voicing their concern over the suffering of the minority community.

Turkey condemned operations by Myanmar security officials in Rakhine state which killed hundreds of people. 

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Aug. 2 expressed its determination to defend the al-Aqsa Mosque from all threats by Israel and emphasized the sanctity of the holy site for Muslims from around the Islamic world.   

Israel has acted with "common sense," Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Aug. 1, following the decision to remove metal detectors placed at the entrances to the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem after weeks of escalated tension between the Israeli government and Palestinians. 

Foreign ministers from Islamic countries will meet in Istanbul on August 1st to discuss the situation at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, the Foreign Ministry announced on Friday, quoted by Daily Sabah.

Members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold an extraordinary meeting following a call from Ankara.

Turkey's President Erdoğan on July 22 called for an immediate end to Israel's new restrictions at the compound of Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque. 

"Metal detectors and other restrictions should be immediately lifted and returned to the status quo. Everyone should be guard against provocations at this sensitive time," Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said in a written statement.
