The EU's top diplomat Josep Borrell late Friday accused Israel of having "created" and "financed" the Palestinian militant group Hamas, which launched unprecedented attacks on Israel on Oct. 7.

This was confirmed by Husam Badran, a member of the Hamas representative office in Qatar, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. According to Badran, Hamas wants an end to the war and a "Palestinian state in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called "truth" all the accusations in recent years that he is not working for the Middle East peace process and solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by creating a separate, Palestinian state.

Larry King, the suspenders-sporting everyman whose broadcast interviews with world leaders, movie stars and ordinary Joes helped define American conversation for a half-century, died on Jan. 23. He was 87.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said on May 19 that the country is terminating all agreements and understandings signed with Israel and the U.S., including on security.

Abbas made the announcement at a Palestinian leadership meeting in Ramallah. The decision came in response to the proposed Israeli annexation of parts of the West Bank.

A decision by the Trump administration to shut down the Palestine Liberation Organization's (PLO) diplomatic mission is "worrying" and will only "serve to encourage attempts to destroy a two-state solution" in the Israel-Palestine conflict, Turkey's Foreign Ministry said on Sept. 11. 

Romania's Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Melescanu welcomed Ahmad Majdalani, member of the Palestine Liberation Organization Executive Committee, on Wednesday, to reconfirm Romania's support for the completion of the Middle East Peace Process.

The Palestinian leadership is considering the annulment of the Oslo Accords following U.S. President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s “undivided” capital, said Mustafa Barghouti, a member of both the Palestinian Legislative Council and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Central Council.

Palestine joined Interpol as a member state on Wednesday, a move opposed by Israel, in a vote at the international police organization's general assembly in Beijing, Interpol said.

"The State of Palestine and the Solomon Islands are now INTERPOL member countries," an Interpol tweet read.

Israelis are celebrating 50 years since the Six-Day War — and with good reason. That victory saved us from destruction and reunited our holiest city. Ultimately, it also brought us peace with Egypt and Jordan and a strategic alliance with the United States. The Palestinians, by contrast, are mourning a half-century of suffering.
